Thrift Story is a pop-up community event. Think of it like a yard sale but with a catch: all items have their backstories attached to them on notecards.

Thrift Story was conceived by Lydia Emmanouilidou in Boston, MA. Events are produced by Amulya Shankar and Lydia Emmanouilidou, two public radio producers based in Boston. They love storytelling (and thrifting -- duh!).

HOW DID THRIFT STORY IN AUSTIN EVOLVE?

March 2018, Kimberly Sanch of thriftyatx.com posted a news story about Thrift Story and that she would love to have an event in Austin. Lydia saw the tagged post and reached out to Kimberly since Thrift Story wanted spin-offs in other cities. The rest is history!
